Moon Pics

In Pic#2, I noticed Jupiter has a slight orange tint on the left side of the planet and a slight blue tint on the right.  Could this be a telescope setup issue?  If so, do you have any idea how to fix this??  I was thinking that my moon pics should be a little clearer or sharper.

The Jupiter pics are actual size.  I only cropped the pic - I didn't resize it.

After posting this, I realized that I could have just been a little out of focus...

I got one picture, and that not very good.
The seeing was bad and I am surprised I even got this one.
This represents 30 seconds of video several hundred frames.
But not too bad for a web cam!

I took advantage of a cloudless sky tonight and tried out some of the new stuff.
I really need to learn more about the Cannon.  I think all my pics were over exposed.
These were all taken with the 8 inch SCT, 25 mm eyepiece, Tele extender, and Cannon

I have constructed a dew heater for the telescope.  ( and Danny, I have enough parts to build one for your 'scope when you get ready. ) Don't think Larry needs a heater for the scope he has, except maybe for the finder scope and the telrad.
I still have the controller to build.  Will probably tackle it tomorrow.  Have found a circuit using a 555 timer chip as a pulse width modulator.

Also, if you have a chance, take a look at Mars tonight.  It is as close to us as it will be for the next four years and it is getting bright. Although is won't be as big as the moon as described by some of the fake emails going around.

No Pics!  For some reason, the program I was using would not recognise the web cam.  So, I spent a lot of time diddleing with that.  Probably should have used the Cannon.

I couldn't get too good a view visually.  I think it was washed out by moon light.

Last night, Feb 16, the skys were clear and I set up the telescope and used the homemade dew heater and a homemade dew shield constructed from black poster board and duct tape.  I was only out for about 3 hours but no dew accumulated on the corrector lens during that time!!

I tried photographing M42 again, and this time, it came out a little better.  I experimented with different exposure times and 1 min, 30 secs seemed to work best. Any longer than that and the stars began to show trailing.
The way to correct for star trailing is to use a Guider.  This picture is better than the first one.  Am still learning
