Neat!!

Looks like we are on our way....  So far, the winds @ 300 mb are relatively quiet, but lower down, we have southerly winds....  That will change, I hope.   Undecided

I have VNC running and it looks good.  However, I still haven't been able to run the program I wrote via VNC.  That is ok though, I don't think it will make that much difference with my stuff.  Thanks for the info and all the help in getting it up and running.  You're a good teacher!  Grin
4  Raspberry Pi / Pi Programming / Re: Python 3.3 on: January 18, 2013, 05:26:11 PM
Thanx.  I am about to go try it....

With your help, it is running along smoothly.  I'm still at the 'hello world' stage, but it is coming along.
I have it blinking two LED's for a predetermined count.  It prints the color LED and its associated count...
Thanks for the help.   Grin

I am about to throw my Pi out the window!!
I am trying to write the blink program and when I write "import RPi-GPIO as GPIO"  I get an error message.
I will keep trying, however. Angry

I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow.
7  Raspberry Pi / Let's talk... Pi / Re: SD Card Tip/Trick on: January 03, 2013, 04:29:44 AM
I reformatted the card in FAT32 and thought that it might have been the problem but have reformatted in NTFS and have the same problem.  I guess a different card might be the answer.  I will have to find some more Sony's....

I tried it but got a "connection refused" error....    Angry

Grin Disregard.  I enabled SSH and it works now.... and it is working with wireless....

The wireless dongle arrived.  It is a TP-LINK model TL-WN722N.
I used the 'Wireless Config' routine found on the desktop.  It will almost setup itself.

I checked again with the 'other' wireless dongle and it couldn't be recognised. (I had to be sure)   Cheesy

The new one has been shipped.  Time of arrival is between Dec 27 and Jan 2....
I'll post the brand name when it arrives...  Hope it works.  I really don't need it now sence I am running ethernet...

I installed some stuff that I didn't like on the card, and not knowing how to un-install it, I decided to rewrite the OS.  I used the image that I had made before and on the Sony, it worked just fine.  So guess all 8gb cards are not the same size.  I had reformated the other card, and I am wondering if windows put some stuff that wasn't on the Sony....?  Hmmmm.....   Huh
12  Raspberry Pi / Let's talk... Pi / Re: SD Card Images on: December 22, 2012, 08:18:56 PM
I tried both OS's but I like RaspBMC best.  The only thing, after about 10 mins it locks up and I have to reboot...   Undecided

I guess for running things on the balloon, Arch will probally work best.  It boots up fairly fast and doesn't seem to have a lot of stuff running in the background.
13  Raspberry Pi / Let's talk... Pi / Re: SD Card Tip/Trick on: December 19, 2012, 06:57:40 PM
I tried reading the SD card and it reads it and creates the file.  However, the file it creates is slightly larger than the 8gb SD card that I was planning to write to.  So I am wondering if when we ran the Rpi for the first time and we expanded the partition, is the image of the whole SD card?  If so, then we need to change it back to the smaller partition.... (I think) Undecided

Angry  I tried to set up the wireless program, but I think that the info for my particular unit is not in their database so may have to go with another unit (brand).  Cry

I may have to try that out when I get some extra cards....   Grin
