Title: Blog and Wiki Sites
Post by: Dan on September 17, 2009, 02:15:11 AM
We have two new features and we'll see how they go...I put up a blog site, that I'm still struggling with to make it Look like I think a blog site should look...  ...   and I've put up the wiki and I haven't had any time to even look at that...I'm emailing the admin login and password for the wiki to Cheryl (I'm not dumping it on you though girl! I'll help out as much or a little as you want)... ... if anybody would like to take over the management and setup of either the blogsite or the Photo gallery, I'll be happy to hand them over and assist you all that I can (Aimee?)...I'm just getting swamped with the design aspects and haven't done anything about the content since we started...

We'll see how they evolve and look at them in 3 weeks...if we like them and they are useful, we'll keep them, but if not, we'll toss them straight into the trash   :D

I've created my first post on the blog page... Blog ( It was very easy to do and is very automated...The hard part is thinking up stuff to write...Unfortunately, it is a blog, which means I don't see much way to set it up with a table of contents and if someone is interested in what kind of batteries we used, it wouldn't show a heirarchical listing of posts, or at least I haven't figured out a way to do that...

Which brings us to the wiki...we SHOULD be able to do that...after all, most of the wikis that I've seen have a menu with a table of contents so it's easy to find what you're looking for and all the pages link to other relevant pages so you can flip from one topic to the other depending on where your interests take you...Except I can't figure out how to make it DO that...the wiki is pretty admin unfriendly and user unfriendly as well, unless, I guess, you just KNOW how to operate it...more reading up I guess..Anyway, I have the same article posted in both the blog and the wiki.. (and I STILL have to figure out how to link the Barntek logo back to our home page on the wiki...aaaaaarrrrrgggghhh!)

Ok, I've got the wiki started...I've got a Table of contents started...check it out and please edit away!! The red links are pages that haven't been created yet, so you can start it up...The one(s) in blue have an actual page started, but feel free to add, edit, fix spelling or grammar errors, or whatever...That's what it's there for and it is our collective knowledge...If you think of other topics, take a look at the formatting in the Table of Contents page (just click on edit) and add other topics that you think should be there...It's a start, and should be a continuous work in any questions here and I'll research them for you or go here ( for mediawiki's User Help...

Hey, is the information we are putting in the wiki supposed to be general information, or are we being more specific to what we did??  Look at what I entered for the Experiment Package and let me know if that is kinda what you are looking for.  I'm just not sure how "us specific" you want to be.  i.e., are we telling the world what we did or are we providing general information on what is possible?  I still don't know if I am getting my question across. Good luck with working out an answer. ;)

I know what you mean  ;D

I was kinda thinking there's quite a bit of generic stuff out there...I was going to be pretty specific so we can show what worked for us and what didn't work for us...Take a look at my Legal Issues article, I use specific examples of our mission to make my points, I even fact-checked with dad to make sure I put the right stuff in the article...Right now, be as general or as specific as you long as something is going in... hahaha  And like the disclaimer at the bottom says, expect to be edited mercilessly...  Thanks for jumping into the fray  :)

Ok...I tried to help you out a little on the Wiki page under the Experiment and for 2008.  There were a few ants in the ballast that ended up being part of the experiment....although it was not planned  ;)
